About Kumta

Kumta (Kannada:) is a city and a taluka in Uttara Kannada in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is a coastal city and is about 142km south of the city Margao and 58km north of Bhatkal. The city lies on NH 66 running between Mumbai and Mangalore. Bhatkal is one of the major stations along the Konkan Railway line running between Mumbai and Mangalore.The nearest airport is Vasco International Airport Goa. During the British Raj, it was a part of the North Kanara district of the Bombay Presidency. Crafts made out of Carving in sandalwood is a specialty.
