About Sanchore

Sanchore is a town in Jalore district of Rajasthan, India. It is the headquarters of the tehsil by the same name. Located on [National Highway No 15]], the town is situated 154km from Jalore. Sanchore is a historical town and in olden days was known as Satyapur. It was ruled by Jalore rulers. There is a well-known Jain temple in the town. A cattle fair is held here every year in April and May. An oil exploration company cairn energy in 2004 discovered oil in Barmer-Sanchore basin. The Narmada Canal,which begins in Gujarat, enters Rajasthan state near village Silu in Sachore tehsil after passing through 458km in Gujarat.
