Kovvuru (Telugu: ) is a small town, municipality and mandal in West Godavari district, in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is situated adjacent to the west bank of the Godavari River. The name of Kovvuru was derived from Govu vooru ( A town of Cows). Since Cows are considered to be very holy in Indian Culture, this name is supposedly very holy. During the Godavari Pushkaralu, held every 12 years, Goshpada Kshetram (Gopadala revu) and temple are sacred places. There are many temples of various Hindu Gods in the Gopadala revu (Bank of the Cow's Footsteps). People from all over India come here for the holy dip in the river during the pushkaram. There are three bridges across the Godavari River linking Kovvuru with Rajahmundry. The oldest of these was built by Sir Arthur Cotton and is over a hundred years old.
