Jalesar is a city and a municipal board in Etah district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is concted by road to other towns such as Hathras, Etah, Aligarh and it is approx 40km from Agra. Jalesar is located at 2729N 7819E / 27.48N 78.32E / 27.48; 78.32. It has an average elevation of 173metres (567feet). As of 2001 India census, Jalesar had a population of 35,662. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Jalesar has an average literacy rate of 48%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 54%, and female literacy is 40%. Patna Bird Sanctuary is a lovely place to visit. Jalesar is a city of brass and famous for its 'Pital Udhyog'. Jalesar is known for its cast bells, the major component of whose brass is iron . A famous Hanuman Mandir is situated at Ganj area of Jalesar. URS MELA is a famous MELA which is being organised eavery year at Dargah area of Jalesar.
