Samalkha is a town/tehsil and a municipal committee in Panipat district in the Indian state of Haryana. Industries in the town include cast iron (fodder cutting machines), nuts and bolts, iron rods (Saria) and bathroom fittings manufacture.Samalkha has an average elevation of 227 metres (745 ft) and is situated on GT road, 72 kilometres (45 mi) from the capital Delhi on the way to Panipat/Ambala/Amritsar. As of 2001 India census,[1] Samalkha had a population of 29,974. Males constitute 55% of the population and females 45%. Samalkha has an average literacy rate of 78%, higher than the national average of 61.5%: male literacy is 78%, and female literacy is 69%. In Samalkha, 20% of the population is under 6 years of age. Currently the MLA from Samalkha is (Ravinder Machhroli).The famous politicians of samalkha constituency are CH Katar singh chhoker (ex finance minister) ch hari singh Nalwa ;ch bharat singh chhokar ; CH.Sanjay chhokar (youth congress president) Samalkha is mainly famous for the sweets, ghewar And Iron Foundry etc..
