Velampalayam is a third grade municipality in Tiruppur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. As of 2001 India census, Velampalayam had a population of 45,562. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Velampalayam has an average literacy rate of 73%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 80%, and female literacy is 67%. In Velampalayam, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
