Bijni is a town and a town area committee in Chirang district in the state of Assam, India. Bijni is located at 2631N 9040E / 26.52N 90.67E / 26.52; 90.67. It has an average elevation of 53metres (173feet). As of 2001 India census, Bijni had a population of 12,607. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Bijni has an average literacy rate of 79%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 84% and female literacy of 73%. 11% of the population is under 6 years of age. Bijni is surrounded by village Kawatika, Doturi, Batabari, Bhetagaon,Chhatianguri, Lechiagaon, Amguri, Puran Bijni, Gerukabari, Saktola, Goraimari and Baghmara, Majrabari, bijni panbari road(deukura par). The Bijni branch of the Koch dynasty controlled its feudatory from the present-day Bijni town from 1671 till 1864 when it was attacked by Jhawlia Mech, a chieftain from Bhutan.
