Dalsinghsarai is a city and a notified area in Samastipur district in the state of Bihar, India. As of 2001 India census, Dalsinghsarai had a population above 50,000. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Dalsinghsarai has an average literacy rate of 60%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 69% and, female literacy is 51%. In Dalsinghsarai, 16% of the population is under 6years of age. The river traversing the city is Balan. Dalsinghsarai, also known as Dalsingsarai misnomerly, is a sub-division of Samastipur district. Dalsingsarai is Bihar's first railway station and well connected to the Broad gauge line in East Central division of Indian Railways. The name of the station is Dalsingsarai.
