Ankleshwar, is a city and a municipality in the Bharuch district of the state of Gujarat, India. The city is located ten kilometres from Bharuch. The town is known for its industrial township called GIDC . Ankleshwar has over 5000 chemical plants, producing products such as pesticides, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and paints. As of 2001 India census, Ankleshwar had a population of 67,952. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. 13% of the population is under 6 years of age. Among the Hindus, ghanchis are an important caste, residing in the town for centuries . The city has a sizeable Muslim population.
