Ashta is a city and a municipality in Sehore district in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. Ashta is located at 2301N 7643E / 23.02N 76.72E / 23.02; 76.72. It has an average elevation of 519metres (1702feet and 4 hands). Ashta is a small town which includes all facilities including hospital, school, cinema hall and road transport. Ashta anaj mandi (grain market)is ranked second largest mandi (market) in Madhya pradesh for the financial transaction taking place there. Apart from this Ashta is known for jain temple located at the small hill top called as "Kila" in local language. The jain temple have a statue of Jian tithankar "Neminath", which is believed to be more than 2000 years old. The jain temple belongs to shwetabar jain, which is one of the two division of jainism. Ashta has a river named "Parvati" which is the main source of water to the inhabitants there. Parvati is named as because it has a Shiv temple nearby which is also believed to be more than 1000 yr ago....
