Badvel is a constituency in YSR Kadapa District (Kadapa/Cuddapah) of Andhra Pradesh State of India. Badvel is the Headquarters of Badvel assembly segment. It is located 55km from Kadapa, the district headquarters. Recently, it was upgraded to municipality status. Based on the 2004 election census, the total number of voters in Badvel constituency is 153,429. Hindu, Islam and Christianity are the primary religions. Of the Hindus, Balija,Reddy, Arya vysyas, and SCs are the most common.Telugu is the main language. Hindi, Urdu and English are the other languages spoken. The city is named after famous poet Baddena, who wrote Sumathi Sathakam. It was initially named 'Baddenavolu', later changing to 'Badvolu' and then finally to 'Badvel'.
