Bagodar is a community development block that forms an administrative division in Dumri sub-division[1] of Giridih district in the Indian state of Jharkhand.Bagodar is located at 2450N 85520E at an elevation of 356 m from MSL.[2] Bagodar intermediate panchayat covers the following gram panchayats: Adwara, Algdiha, Amnari, Atka , Sariya Khurd, and Trila.[3] The Jamunia River originates near Bishungarh. There were 80,722 males and 77,372 females. Scheduled Castes numbered 16,360 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 3,798.[6] In 2001 Bagodar community development block had a population of 236,482, out of which 117,697 were males and 118,785 were females. 83,962 persons were literate.
