Bangarpet is a town situated in Kolar District of Karnataka, India. It is the last railway junction in Karnataka before entering Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Bangarpet was originally called as Bowringpet, named after an officer working in the Kolar Gold Fields. This town came into existence as the connecting point for the traffic between the gold fields and Bangalore. Bangarpet is bordered by both Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. it is a Taluk Head quartress with the population of about 2,00,000. From the Kolar main road it connects the Vivekanandha Nagar Main Road,GhandiNagar,Santhegate to Busstand. The Town covers the 247 sq km .The areas named as vivekananda nagar,Vijay nagar ,etc.The bangarpet town was discovered .later it was developed at the time of KGF mining.
