Bansi is a city and a municipal board in Siddharthnagar district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. (Not to be confused with Baansi) It is the first developed town of the Siddharthnagar district (a.k.a. Naugarh). Before Naugarh (Sidharthnagar) was declared as a new district, the proposed name of the new district around Naugarh was 'Madhavnagar'. The local municipal corporation tried to do everything possible for the development of Bansi. At that time this was an all-purpose hub the area covered by three districts Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar and Gorakhpur. This town still faces a lot of challenge related to transportation, roads, water, employment, etc. though often efforts are made for improvement in these sectors.
