Boisar is a village in Thane district in the state of Maharashtra, India. Boisar is located at 1948N 7245E / 19.8N 72.75E / 19.8; 72.75. It has an average elevation of 10metres (32feet). Boisar is located 45 kilometres (28mi) north of Virar on the Western Railway line of Mumbai Suburban Railway. To reach Boisar, one can catch Shuttle/MEMU trains from Virar. Some long-distance trains also stop here. By road, it can be reached from National Highway NH-8, 22 kilometres (14mi) from Chilhar Phata. There are regular state transport buses from Boisar to Palghar, Thane, Bhiwandi and Wada. Mumbai local trains (EMU) are also proposed to be extended to this section to Dahanu Road as the population of this area has witnessed a huge surge in the last few years.
