Chandrapur is a census town under Barasat I in Barasat Sadar subdivision in North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal.As of 2011 India census, Chandrapur had a population of 5,047; of this, 2,574 are male, 2,473 female.[1] It has an average literacy rate of 87.2%, higher than the national average of 74.04%.North 24 Parganas district has been identified as one of the areas where ground water is affected by arsenic contamination.[2]
