Sony Max is a Hindi movie channel launched by Sony Pictures Networks India Pvt. Ltd. The channel started broadcasting in December 1999. It launched its HD feed on 25 December 2015 Its main audience attraction, other than Hindi movies, is the Twenty20 cricket tournament IPL, which the channel has been broadcasting since the tournaments launch in 2008It is supplemented by Sony MAX 2, which launched in 2014 and airs classic and evergreen Hindi movies, and Sony Wah, which is a free-to-air Hindi movie channel launched in 2016 and available on DD Free Dish, the countrys only free-to-air DTH platform. Sony MAX HD changed its logo to a new designThe channel is notorious for its reputation for repeated telecasts of the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Sooryavansham.
