Coimbatore (Tamil: கோயம்புத்தூர்; [kɔəjmbaːʈɔrɪ]), also known as Kovai (Tamil: கோவை; pronounced [kɔʋaːəj] ( listen)), is the second largest city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu with a metropolitan population of over 2 million.
