About Devrukh

Devrukh is a town in the tehsil of Sangameshwar in the Ratnagiri district of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is a headquarters for the tehsil Sangmeshwar. It is part of the Konkan region. Devrukh has primarily agrarian society. Devrukh enjoys salubrious climate. Summers are warm and Winters are not very chilly. However every year Devrukh experiences heavy monsoon (400 cm to 500 cm rains every year). Rice, Cashew and Alphonso (Hapus) Mangoes are major crops in Devrukh.Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj & Chatrapti Sambaji Maharaj are many times visited to this place. Shivaji Maharaj was visiteded to shri soljai temples many times. This is the shortest way from Raigad fort to Vishalgad fort via Konkan rout. Chousupi is one of the famous place, this places was using as a horse stable at the time of chatrapti sambhaji Maharaj & Kavi kalash was the taking care of this place. Devrukh was the birthplace of social reformer Parvatibai Athavale. As well as birthplace of Mr. Shankar dhondsheth Sardal & his daughter vimal shankar sardal freedom fighter. Mr. Shankar Dhadsheth Sardal played important role in Bhudan-Chalval with vinoba Bhave. Mr. Shankar sardal converted LEELA VISHVABHAR kanadi Literature in Marathi. Water Sources- Saptalingi & Bavnadi is the rivers providing water to this village. Bavnadi is starting from sahydri hills near to chandoli sanctuary & Saptlingi also starting from sahydri hills. Saptlingi means Seven shiva temples situated on the bank if this river like vadeshwar, Nilkanteshware etc.
