Amit

Amit is a male name of Indian origin. In Hindi, Amit (अमित, means "infinite" or "boundless", অমিত) originates from the Sanskrit word (अमित:), (अमित:) essentially is the negation of (मित), which means "to measure". In Hebrew, Amit (עמית) means "friend", "colleague" or "member of the organization". The word appears in the Bible in a context suggesting such a meaning. In Israel, it is increasingly being used as a male name and also as a female name. Nevertheless, it is still among the most popular names given to secular Jewish boys and girls in Israel.
