José Antonio Domínguez Bandera professionally known as Antonio Banderas made his debut as an actor in the film Pestañas postizas (1982). It was in 1993 he gained wider recognition as an actor with the film Philadelphia. There was no turning back after that and Bandera at present is considered as a very bankable star. He has had a good career studded with a lot of awards to his credit. His maiden award was the Fotogramas de Plata Award for Best Movie Actor for Réquiem por un campesino español which has since been followed by many more. The iconic films in Banderas career so far are Philadelphia (1993), Interview with the Vampire (1994), Desperado (1995), Assassins (1995), Evita (1996), and The Mask of Zorro (1998) to name a few. José Antonio Domínguez Bandera son of Civil Guard police officer José Domínguez Prieto and school teacher Ana Bandera Gallego was born on 10 August 1960 in Málaga. He showed a strong interest in the performing arts and formed part of the ARA Theatre-School run by Ángeles Rubio-Argüelles y Alessandri and the College of Dramatic Art, both in Málaga.
