​From Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaJohn McEnery (born 1 November 1943; Birmingham, England) is a British actor and writer.At age 20 he found his first stage work, spending three seasons with the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool. He joined the British National Theatre Company in 1966. He trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.He starred alongside Claude Jade and Jean-Pierre Cassel in Gérard Brachs bittersweet The Boat on the Grass about a girl between two friends and appeared as Mercutio in Franco Zeffirellis Romeo and Juliet. He was nominated for a BAFTA for the latter performance. He also appeared in the film Nicholas and Alexandra. In 2008, he appeared in a guest role in Sidetracked, the first episode of Wallander.In 1998 he wrote the play Merry Christmas, Mr. Burbage in honour of the 400th anniversary of the creation of the Globe Theatre.McEnery has two daughters, Phoebe and Chloe, by his former wife, actress Stephanie Beacham.
