BIOGRAPHY

Julia Elizabeth Wells professionally known as Julie Andrews made her debut as an actor in the film Mary Poppins (1964). It was in 1965 she gained recognition as an actor with the film The Sound of Music which gave her stardom. There was no turning back after that and Julie Andrews at present is considered a very bankable star. She has had a good career studded with a lot of awards to her credit. Her maiden award was the Academy Awards for Best Actress for Mary Poppins which has since been followed by many more. The iconic films in Julie Andrewss career so far are Mary Poppins (1964), The Americanization of Emily (1964), The Sound of Music (1965), Hawaii (1966), Torn Curtain (1966), Thoroughly Modern Millie (1967), Star! (1968), The Tamarind Seed (1974), 10 (1979), S.O.B. (1981), Victor/Victoria (1982), Thats Life! (1986), Duet for One (1986), The Princess Diaries (2001), The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004), Despicable Me (2010), and Aquaman (2018) to name a few. Julia Elizabeth Wells, daughter of Barbara Ward Wells and Edward Charles Wells was born on 1 October 1935, in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, England. She attended Cone-Ripman School and Woodbrook School, a local state school in Beckenham. She was made a Dame by Queen Elizabeth II for services to the performing arts in 2000.
