BIOGRAPHY

Mahershalalhashbaz Gilmore professionally known as Mahershala Ali made his debut as an actor in the series Crossing Jordan (2001). It was in 2008 he gained world-wide recognition as an actor with the film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. There was no turning back after that and Ali at present is considered as a very bankable star. He has had a good career studded with a lot of awards to his credit. His maiden award was the African-American Film Critics Association Awards for Best Supporting Actor for Moonlight which has since been followed by many more. The iconic films in Alis career so far are Making Revolution (2003), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008), Predators (2010), The Place Beyond the Pines (2012), Supremacy (2014), The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014), Hidden Figures (2016), and Green Book (2018) to name a few. Mahershala Ali, son of Phillip Gilmore and Willicia Goines was born on February 16, 1974, in Oakland, California. He attended St. Marys College of California in Moraga, California, and graduated from there in 1996 with a degree in mass communication. He then enrolled in New York Universitys graduate acting program at Tisch School of the Arts, earning his masters degree in 2000.
