BIOGRAPHY

Mel Colmcille Gerard Gibson professionally known as Mel Gibson made his debut as an actor in the film Summer City (1977). It was in 1979 he got his breakthrough with the movie Mad Max which gave him stardom. He has had a good career studded with a lot of awards to his credit. His maiden award was AFI Award for Best Actor in a Lead Role for Tim which has since been followed by many more. The iconic films in Gibsons career so far are Gallipoli (1981), The River (1984), Lethal Weapon (1987), Tequila Sunrise (1988), Forever Young (1992), Maverick (1994), Braveheart (1995), Conspiracy Theory (1997), Apocalypto (2006), The Beaver (2011), Hacksaw Ridge (2016), and Mad Max film series to name a few. Gibson son of writer Hutton Gibson and Anne Patricia was born on January 3, 1956, in Peekskill, New York. He was educated by members of the Congregation of Christian Brothers at St Leos Catholic College in Wahroonga, New South Wales. He then studied acting at the National Institute of Dramatic Art.
