Mary Louise Streep professionally known as Meryl Streep made her debut as an actor in Julia (1977). It was in 1982 she gained recognition as an actor with the movie Sophies Choice. There was no turning back after that and Streep at present is considered a very bankable star. She has had a good career studded with a lot of awards to her credit. Her maiden award was the Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress for Kramer vs. Kramer which has since been followed by many more. The iconic films in Streeps career so far are Sophies Choice (1982), Out of Africa (1985), Death Becomes Her (1992), The Bridges of Madison County (1995), The Hours (2002), The Devil Wears Prada (2006), Mamma Mia! (2008), Julie & Julia (2009), Its Complicated (2009), The Iron Lady (2011), Into the Woods (2014), and Big Little Lies (2019) to name a few.
Mary Louise Streep, daughter of artist Mary Wilkinson Streep and Harry William Streep, was born on June 22, 1949, in Summit, New Jersey. She attended Cedar Hill Elementary School, the Oak Street School, and Bernards High School. She received her BA cum laude in 1971, before applying for an MFA from the Yale School of Drama. She also enrolled as a visiting student at Dartmouth College in 1970 and received an Honorary Doctor of Arts degree from the college in 1981. The government of France made her a Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2003 and in 2017 she was given Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award.
