Vishwanath Patekar professionally known as Nana Patekar made his debut as an actor in the film Gaman (1978). It was in 1989 he was noticed as an actor with the movie Parinda which gave him stardom. There was no turning back after that and Patekar at present is considered a very bankable star. He has had a good career studded with a lot of awards to his credit. His maiden award was the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for Parinda which has since been followed by many more. The iconic films in Nana Patekars career so far are Parinda (1989), Angaar (1992), Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman (1992), Krantiveer (1994), Prahaar: The Final Attack (1994), Agni Sakshi (1996), Khamoshi: The Musical (1996), Shakti: The Power (2002), Apaharan (2005), Welcome (2007), Raajneeti (2010), and Natsamrat (2016) to name a few. Nana Patekar son of Dinkar Patekar and Sanjanabai Patekar was born on 1 January 1951 in Raigad District, Maharashtra. He completed his schooling at Samarth Vidyalaya, Dadar West, Mumbai, and Bandra School of Arts, Mumbai. He then went on to pursue a Bachelors degree from Sir J.J. Institute of Applied Art, Mumbai.
