BIOGRAPHY

Rakhee Majumdar/ Rakhee Gulzar professionally known as Rakhee made her debut as a lead actor in the film Bodhu Boron (1967). In 1971 she established herself as a lead actor with the movie Sharmilee which gave her stardom. There was no turning back after that and Rakhee was considered a very bankable star. She has had a good career studded with a lot of awards to her credit. Her maiden award was the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for Daag: A Poem of Love which has since been followed by many more. The iconic films in Rakhees career so far are Jeevan Mrityu (1970), Sharmilee (1971), Lal Patthar (1971), Paras (1971), Heera Panna (1973), Daag: A Poem of Love (1973), Blackmail (1973), Banarasi Babu (1973), Joshila (1973), Tapasya (1976), Kabhie Kabhie (1976), Aanchal (1980), Baseraa (1981), Bandhan Kuchchey Dhaagon Ka (1983), Zameen Aasmaan (1984), Pighalta Aasman (1985), Ram Lakhan (1989), Anari (1993), Baazigar (1993), Khalnayak (1993), Karan Arjun (1995), Border (1997), Soldier (1998), Ek Rishtaa: The Bond of Love (2001) and Dil Ka Rishta (2002) to name a few. Rakhee was born on 15 August 1947 in Ranaghat, West Bengal. In 2003 she was honored with the Padma Shri Award by the Government of India.
