Richard Tiffany Gere professionally known as Richard Gere made his debut as an actor in Looking for Mr. Goodbar (1977). It was in 1980 he gained recognition as an actor with the movie American Gigolo. There was no turning back after that and Richard Gere at present is considered a very bankable star. He has had a good career studded with a lot of awards to his credit. His maiden award was the David di Donatello Award for Best Foreign Actor for Days of Heaven which has since been followed by many more. The iconic films in Geres career so far are American Gigolo (1980), An Officer and a Gentleman (1982), The Cotton Club (1984), Pretty Woman (1990), Sommersby (1993), Primal Fear (1996), Runaway Bride (1999), Im Not There (2007), Arbitrage (2012) and Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer (2016) to name a few. Gere son of Doris Ann and Homer George Gere was born on August 31, 1949, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended North Syracuse Central High School and graduated from there in the year 1967. He then attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst on a gymnastics scholarship, majoring in philosophy but he dropped out after two years.
