BIOGRAPHY

Shamsher Raj Kapoor fondly known as Shammi Kapoor made his debut as an actor in the film Jeewan Jyoti (1953). It was not until 1957 he gained recognition as an actor with the movie Tumsa Nahin Dekha. There was no turning back after that and Shammi Kapoor was considered as a very bankable star. He has had a good career studded with a lot of awards to his credit. His maiden award was the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for Brahmachari which has since been followed by many more. The iconic films in Shammi Kapoors career so far are Jeewan Jyoti (1953), Tumsa Nahin Dekha (1957), Dil Deke Dekho (1959), Junglee (1961), Rajkumar (1964), Kashmir Ki Kali (1964), Teesri Manzil (1966), An Evening in Paris (1967), Brahmachari (1968), Sachaai (1969), Prince (1969), Andaz (1971), and Professor (1972) to name a few. Shammi Kapoor son of theatre actor Prithviraj Kapoor and Ramsarni Kapoor was born on 21 October 1931 in Mumbai. He attended St. Josephs Convent (Wadala), Don Bosco School, and New Era School at Hughes Road.
