BIOGRAPHY

Balbir Raj Kapoor fondly known as Shashi Kapoor made his debut as a child actor in the film Aag (1948). It was not until 1972 he got his first major hit with the movie Jaanwar Aur Insaan which gave him stardom. There was no turning back after that and Shashi Kapoor was considered as a very bankable star. He has had a good career studded with a lot of awards to his credit. His maiden award was the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for Deewaar which has since been followed by many more. The iconic films in Kapoors career so far are Waqt (1965), Aamne Samne (1967), Suhana Safar (1970), Abhinetri (1970), Aa Gale Lag Jaa (1973), Vachan (1974), Paap Aur Punya (1974), Aap Beati (1976), Fakira (1976), Trishul (1978), Junoon (1978), Trishul (1978), Apna Khoon (1978), Maan Gaye Ustaad (1981), Heat and Dust (1982), Aandhi Toofan (1985), and Swati (1986) to name a few. Shashi Kapoor son of actor Prithviraj Kapoor and Ramsarni Kapoor was born on 18 March 1938 in Kolkata. In 2011 the Government of India honored him with the Padma Bhushan for his contributions to films and in 2014 he received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
