Soumya (Sanskrit: सौम्य), is an Indian given name. It is unisexual in nature and is more common as a masculine name in North and East India and as a feminine name in South India. The name has several related meanings. Soumya means 'born of Soma'. Soma (Sanskrit: सोम) is Chandra (Sanskrit: चन्द्र).
