BIOGRAPHY

Stephen Glenn Martin professionally known as Steve Martin made his debut as an actor in The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour (1968). It was in 1979 that he gained recognition as an actor with the movie The Jerk which gave him stardom. He has had a good career studded with a lot of awards to his credit. His maiden award was the Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series for The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour which has since been followed by many more. The iconic films in Martins career so far are Another Nice Mess (1972), The Absent-Minded Waiter (1977), The Jerk (1979), Pennies from Heaven (1981), Dead Men Dont Wear Plaid (1982), The Man with Two Brains (1983), Parenthood (1989), My Blue Heaven (1990), Father of the Bride (1991), Eyes Wide Shut (1999), Bringing Down The House (2003), Cheaper by the Dozen (2003), The Pink Panther 2 (2009), and The Big Year (2011) to name a few. Martin son of Mary Lee and Glenn Vernon Martin was born onAugust 14, 1945, in Waco, Texas. He attended Garden Grove High School. He then attended Santa Ana College, taking classes in drama and English poetry. In 2013 he was awarded an Honorary Academy Award at the Academys 5th Annual Governors Awards.
