Subu

The gayal (Bos frontalis), also known as mithun, is a large domestic bovine distributed in Northeast India, Bangladesh, northern Burma and in Yunnan, China.There are two major hypotheses on the origin of the gayal: i) it was domesticated from wild gaur; and ii) it is a hybrid descendant from crossing of wild gaur and domestic cattle, either Bos indicus or Bos taurus. To date neither hypothesis has been proven conclusively.
