Susan Wiant Brooks (born August 25, 1960) is an American politician and member of the Republican Party who has been the U.S. Representative for since 2013. The district includes most of northern Indianapolis, as well as many of the citys wealthy northern and eastern suburbs. Brooks previously served as the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana from 2001 to 2007.She was a candidate to replace Mike Pence in the 2016 Indiana gubernatorial election after he withdrew from the race to be Donald Trumps running mate in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. However, Indiana Republicans went on to select Eric Holcomb, Indianas Lieutenant Governor and Pences second in command during his administration. Holcomb successfully defeated his Democratic rival, former Speaker of the Indiana House John R. Gregg.
