Susanna Moore (born December 9, 1945) is an American writer.Moore was born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania and grew up in Hawaii. Her memoir, I Myself Have Seen It: The Myth of Hawaii gives the reader deep insight into a life in Hawaii other than that presented by tourist brochures.In 1999, she received the Academy Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters; in 2006 she received a Fellowship in Literature at the American Academy in Berlin; and in 2007 she received a Fellowship in Literature from the Asian Cultural Council.Susanna Moore was Visiting Lecturer in Creative Writing at Yale University in 1988, 1989 and 1994; Visiting Lecturer at New York Graduate School in 1995; Creative Writing Teacher at Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center between 2004 and 2006; and Lecturer of Creative Writing at Princeton University between 2007 and 2009. During May to August 2009, Susanna Moore was Writer-in-Residence at Australias University of Adelaide.Moore worked for a while in Los Angeles in the late 1960s as Warren Beattys assistant.
