Vijay

Joseph Vijay, known professionally as Vijay, is an Indian film actor and playback singer who works in Tamil cinema. As of 2017, Vijay is the only actor in South India to have six films earn 100 crore (US$16 million) or more at the worldwide box office. Vijay is referred to by the media as Thalapathy (commander).Vijay initially appeared as an uncredited child artist in films under his father S. A. Chandrasekhars direction, starting with Vetri (1984) to Ithu Engal Neethi (1988). He also made his debut under his fathers direction as a teen-age lead actor in Naalaya Theerpu (1992), but his first successful film as lead actor was Poove Unakkaga (1996), which was directed by Vikraman. To date, he has acted in 61 movies as a lead actor and has won 40 awards including notable three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, one Cosmopolitan Award, one Indiatoday Award, eight Vijay Awards, three Edison Awards, two Vikatan Awards and was nominated for one National Award UK. Vijay as a playback singer has sung 32 songs to date, starting with Bombay City (1994) to Papa Papa (2017).
