16 Blocks is a 2006 English-language Action Crime movie written by Richard Wenk and directed by Richard Donner and produced by Avi Lerner, Randall Emmett, John Thompson, Arnold Rifkin and Jim Van Wyck under the banner of Alcon Entertainment in collaboration with Millennium Films, Cheyenne Enterprises, Emmett/Furla Films, The Donners' Company, Equity Pictures and Nu Image Films. An aging alcoholic cop is assigned the task of escorting a witness from police custody to a courthouse 16 blocks away. There are, however, chaotic forces at work that prevent them from making it in one piece. 16 blocks stars Bruce Willis in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Mos Def, David Morse, Cylk Cozart, Yasiin Bey, Jenna Stern and Casey Sander. The music was composed by Klaus Badelt. Cinematography was done by Glen MacPherson and editing by Steven Mirkovich. The motion picture has a running time of 102 minutes. It was released on 20th April 2006. 16 Blocks was made on a budget of $55 million and it was a hit at box office gross of $65 million. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by Warner Bros. Pictures.
