A History of Violence is a 2005 English-language Crime Drama movie written by John Wagner, Vince Locke and Josh Olson. The movie is directed by David Cronenberg and produced by Chris Bender and J. C. Spink under the banner of BenderSpink. A mild-mannered man becomes a local hero through an act of violence, which sets off repercussions that will shake his family to its very core. A history of violence features Viggo Mortensen in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Maria Bello, William Hurt, Ed Harris, Ashton Holmes, Peter Macneill and Stephen Mchattie. The screenplay is written by Josh Olson which is inspired from A History of Violence by John Wagner Vince Locke. The music was composed by Howard Shore. Cinematography was done by Peter Suschitzky and editing by Ronald Sanders. The film has a running time of 96 minutes. It was released on 1st December 2005. The Film was successful at box office.
