A Man Betrayed is a 1936 English-language Comedy Crime movie written by Dorrell Mcgowan and Stuart E. Mcgowan. The movie is directed by John H. Auer and produced by William Berke and Nat Levine. Frank Powell, an honest stock salesman, attempts to verify the authenticity of his merchandise and his employer commits suicide. Dishonest partners in the company employ gangsters to make the man's death look like murder, in order to cast suspicion on Frank and cover up their own crooked deals. He is convicted and sent to prison. He escapes by chance when other gangsters effect the escape of a gang-member to whom Frank happens to be handcuffed at the time. Free, he sets out, aided by his brother, Curtis, a former missionary, to establish his innocence. Written by Les Adams. A man betrayed features Edward J. Nugent in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Kay Hughes, Lloyd Hughes, John Wray, Edwin Maxwell, Theodore Von Eltz and Thomas E. Jackson. Cinematography was done by Ernest Miller and editing by Roy V. Livingston. The film has a running time of 58-53 minutes. It was released on 28th December 1936. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Republic Pictures.
