A Night at the Opera is a 1935 English-language Comedy Musical movie written by George S. Kaufman, Morrie Ryskind, James Kevin Mcguinness, Buster Keaton, Al Boasberg, Bert Kalmar, George Oppenheimer, Robert Pirosh, Harry Ruby, George Seaton and Carey Wilson. The movie is directed by Sam Wood and Edmund Goulding and produced by Irving Thalberg. A sly business manager and two wacky friends of two opera singers help them achieve success while humiliating their stuffy and snobbish enemies. A night at the opera stars Groucho Marx in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Chico Marx, Harpo Marx, Kitty Carlisle, Allan Jones, Walter Woolf King and Sig Ruman. The screenplay is written by George S. Kaufman, Morrie Ryskind, Add'l dialogue: and Al Boasberg. The music was composed by Herbert Stothart. Cinematography was done by Merritt B. Gerstad and editing by William LeVanway. The film has a running time of 93 minutes. It was released on 15th November 1935 and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office.
