A Series of Unfortunate Events is a 2004 English-language Adventure Comedy movie written by Robert Gordon and Daniel Handler. The movie is directed by Brad Silberling and produced by Laurie Macdonald, Walter F. Parkes and Jim Van Wyck under the banner of Paramount Pictures in collaboration with DreamWorks Pictures, Nickelodeon Movies and Parkes/MacDonald Productions. When a massive fire kills their parents, three children are delivered to the custody of cousin and stage actor Count Olaf, who is secretly plotting to steal their parents' vast fortune. A series of unfortunate events stars Jim Carrey, Liam Aiken, Emily Browning, Timothy Spall, Catherine O Hara, Billy Connolly and Lidia Sabljic. The screenplay is written by Robert Gordon which is inspired from A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. The music was composed by Thomas Newman. Cinematography was done by Emmanuel Lubezki and editing by Michael Kahn. The motion picture has a running time of 108 minutes. It was released on 3rd March 2005. The Film was successful at box office. A Series of Unfortunate Events was made on a budget of $140 million and it was a hit at box office gross of $209 million.
