A Thousand Words is a 2012 English-language Comedy Drama film written by Steve Koren and directed by Brian Robbins and produced by Alain Chabat, Stephanie Danan, Nicolas Cage, Norman Golightly, Brian Robbins and Sharla Sumpter Bridgett under the banner of DreamWorks Pictures in collaboration with Saturn Films, Varsity Pictures and Work After Midnight Films. After stretching the truth on a deal with a spiritual guru, literary agent Jack McCall finds a Bodhi tree on his property. Its appearance holds a valuable lesson on the consequences of every word he speaks. A thousand words features Eddie Murphy in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Kerry Washington, Cliff Curtis, Clark Duke, Allison Janney, Emanuel Ragsdale and Jill Basey. The music was composed by John Debney. Cinematography was done by Clark Mathis and editing by Ned Bastille. The film has a running time of 91 minutes. It was released on 9th March 2012. A Thousand Words was made on a budget of $40 million and at the box office it grossed only $24 million. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by Paramount Pictures.
