Amar Akbar Anthony is a 1977 Hindi-language Action Comedy motion picture written by Smt. Jeevanprabha M. Desai, Kader Khan, Prayag Raj, Pushpa Sharma and K.k. Shukla. The movie is directed by Manmohan Desai and produced by Manmohan Desai. Three brothers are separated and united after many years - one is brought up a Hindu, another a Muslim and the last (and most memorable) a Christian. Hilarity and adventure ensues. Amar akbar anthony stars Vinod Khanna in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Singh, Parveen Babi, Shabana Azmi and Nirupa Roy. The screenplay is written by Prayag Raj. The music was composed by Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar along with Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma, Laxmikant-pyarelal and Anand Bakshi. Cinematography was done by Peter Pereira and editing by Kamlakar Karkhanis. The film has a running time of 184 mins. It was released on 27th May 1977. The movie made a box office gross of ₹15 crore. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by Hirawat Jain & Co.
