Andha Naal is a 1954 Tamil-language Crime Mystery motion picture directed by S. Balachander and produced by A. V. Meiyappan under the banner of AVM Productions. The night after the Japanese bombing of Madras, Rajan (Sivaji Ganesan) a radio engineer, is murdered while preparing to leave town with a bag full of cash. A police detective Sivanandan (Jaavar tharaman) investigates the case and finds each of his suspects coming up with a different retelling of the events of the night of the murder. A brisk, atmospheric film, brilliant for its time and given that it was made in the constraints of the Madras studio system that experimented with little outside of mythological epics and social dramas. Written by Joyojeet Pal. Andha naal stars Sivaji Ganesan in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Pandari Bai, Javar Seetharaman, Shivaji Ganesan, Jawar N. Sitaraman, T.k. Balachandran and Menaka Suresh. The screenplay is written by Javar Seetharaman. The music was composed by Saraswathy Stores Orchestra. Cinematography was done by S. Maruti Rao and editing by S. Surya. The movie has a running time of 130 minutes. It was released on 13th April 1954.
