Apocalypto is a 2006 English-language Action Adventure motion picture written by Mel Gibson and Farhad Safinia. The movie is directed by Mel Gibson and produced by Mel Gibson and Bruce Davey under the banner of Touchstone Pictures in collaboration with Icon Productions. As the Mayan kingdom faces its decline, the rulers insist the key to prosperity is to build temples and offer human sacrifices. Jaguar Paw, a young man captured for sacrifice, flees to avoid his fate. Apocalypto features Rudy Youngblood in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Raoul Trujillo, Mayra S Rbulo, Dalia Hern Ndez, Jonathan Brewer, Gerardo Taracena and Rodolfo Palacios. The music was composed by James Horner. Cinematography was done by Dean Semler and editing by John Wright. The motion picture has a running time of 138 minutes. It was released on 8th December 2006. The Film was successful at box office. Apocalypto was made on a budget of $40 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $120 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Buena Vista Pictures.
