Belle de jour is a 1967 French-language Drama film written by Luis Bu Uel and Jean-claude Carri Re. The movie is directed by Luis Bu Uel and produced by Henri Baum and Robert And Raymond Hakim. Severine is a beautiful young woman married to a doctor. She loves her husband dearly, but cannot bring herself to be physically intimate with him. She indulges instead in vivid, kinky, erotic fantasies to entertain her sexual desires. Eventually she becomes a prostitute, working in a brothel in the afternoons while remaining chaste in her marriage. Written by James Meek. Belle de jour stars Catherine Deneuve in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Jean Sorel, Michel Piccoli, Pierre Cl Menti, Geneviève Page, Pierre Clémenti and Françoise Fabian. The motion picture is based on Belle de Jour by Joseph Kessel. Cinematography was done by Sacha Vierny and editing by Louisette Hautecoeur. The movie has a running time of 101 minutes.
