Bhakta Kanakadasa is a 1960 Kannada-language Biography Drama motion picture directed by Y.r. Swamy and Y. R. Swamy and produced by D. R. Naidu. The spiritual journey of Kanakadasa, a poet and a philosopher belonging to the Dasa sect during the 16th century when the stone idol of Lord Krishna turns around as he's being punished for wanting to the Lord's statue in Udupi. Bhakta kanakadasa features Udaya Kumar in the title role along with Rajkumar, Krishna Kumari, Sorat Ashwath, M.n. Lakshmidevi, B. Hanumanthachar, Narasimhraju and Rathnakar in supporting roles. The screenplay is written by Hunsur Krishnamurthy. The music was composed by M. Venkataraju. Cinematography was done by R. Madhu and editing by Govinda Swamy and M. S. Parthasarathi. The motion picture has a running time of 127 minutes. It was released on 1st January 1960. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by Shaymprasad Movies.
