The motion picture is written and directed by Ranjith Balakrishnan. Lal Release acquired the distribution rights for the film. Black was released on 5th March 2003. Black was made on a budget of ₹23 crore and it was a hit at box office gross of ₹23 crore. Cinematography was done by Amal Neerad and editing by Bhoominathan. The music was composed by Alex Paul along with Rajamani.
