Casper is a 1995 English-language Comedy Family film written by Sherri Stoner, Deanna Oliver and J. J. Abrams. The movie is directed by Brad Silberling and produced by Colin Wilson under the banner of Amblin Entertainment in collaboration with The Harvey Entertainment Company. Furious that her late father only willed her his gloomy-looking mansion rather than his millions, Carrigan Crittenden is ready to burn the place to the ground when she discovers a map to a treasure hidden in the house. But when she enters the rickety mansion to k her claim, she is frightened away by a wicked wave of ghosts. Determined to get her hands on this hidden fortune, she hires afterlife therapist Dr. James Harvey to exorcise the ghosts from the mansion. Harvey and his daughter Kat move in, and soon Kat meets Casper, the ghost of a young boy who's the friendliest ghost you know. But not so friendly are Casper's uncles--Stretch, Fatso and Stinkie--who are determined to drive all fleshies away. Ultimately, it is up to Harvey and Kat to help the ghosts cross over to the other side. Written by Joshua Davis. Casper stars Christina Ricci, Bill Pullman, Cathy Moriarty, Eric Idle, Chauncey Leopardi, Spencer Vrooman and Tony Stef'ano. The movie is based on Casper the Friendly Ghost by Seymour Reit Joe Oriolo. The music was composed by Academy Award Oscar winner James Horner. Cinematography was done by Dean Cundey and editing by Michael Kahn. The motion picture has a running time of 101 minutes. It was released on 10th July 1995. The Film was successful at box office. Casper was made on a budget of $55 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $287 million. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by Universal Pictures.
